In "Paintings, PCB's, and Possibilities", I compared the manufacturing ecosystem behind one of the world's largest electronics markets and also one of the world's largest art markets.
I designed some custom artwork PCBs that I intended to use for the video thumbnail. They came out awesome, but it wasn’t obvious they were PCBs in the thumbnail. But they were too awesome to not share with you!
Inspired by the most unique artwork I could find, here is your opportunity to own some Strange Parts PCB art - either "Minion Lisa" or "Grumpy Cat Van Gogh"
These are both paintings that were painted in Dafen Oil Painting Village here in Shenzhen, which I used as a starting point to design circuit boards from. I then sent them off to two local circuit board factories, to be printed alongside circuit boards for TV's, phones, computers, and more. (If you'd like to see how this circuit boards are made, go watch the video I made touring the JLCPCB factory that goes through the whole process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljOoGyCso8s)
In light of Grumpy Cat's recent passing, $5 from every sale of Grumpy Cat Van Gogh will be donated to the ASPCA.
